The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 41- year old Micheal Osinomo for allegedly kidnapping female students of the University of Benin and demanding ransom.

According to the investigations, the suspect belongs to a gang of kidnappers that specialize in kidnapping female students around Ekosodin, BDPA and Osasogie axis and collecting ransoms from their parents and guardians.

The suspect confessed to kidnapping a 200 level female student of the University of Benin and collecting a ransom of two hundred thousand from her family.

“It was around 5pm in the evening when she was going home at main gate. I threatened her that she was in the midst of area guys and that my guys are here. I told her to obey my command, otherwise they will deal with her”, Michael said.

He further stated that he called her parents through the girl’s phone and demanded for a ransom of two hundred thousand naira that he received through a POS account.

The Edo State Police Command are still carrying out investigations and has promised to charge the suspect to court for adequate retribution.
