The Association of Campus Journalists, University of Benin, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Chapel.

The representatives were warmly received by the Chairman of NUJ, Edo State Chapel, Comrade Festus Alenkhe in the NUJ Edo State Chapel’s conference room, with distinguished men and women on seat to welcome them,including Comrade Adesua, the leader of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

The meeting began some minutes past noon with the Secretary of the Union Mr. Andy, welcoming every member present at the meeting, and having members on seats introduce him/ herself. The Secretary handed the mic to the President and leader of the ACJ UNIBEN team, Rt. Hon. Collins Odabi, to introduce himself and his entourage.

“We hope that this visit helps us create a bond and as time goes on build a relationship between campus journalists in UNIBEN and journalists in Edo state”, Rt. Hon. Collins stated.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of the Union’s Edo State Chapel, Comrade Festus Alenkhe said, “I want to assure you that we will support you, as you are just coming up and we need to encourage you. We will not be here forever, so I want to see some of you play a very key role at the National and International level when it comes to Journalism matters.”

He went further to encourage the Campus Journalists to try as much as possible to abide by the ethics of Journalism. “A journalist should not write on hearsay, a thorough fact check must be carried out before NEWS is published”, he said.

Afterward, the Campus Journalists were invited to a conference meeting which saw the launch of a new publication called “Edo Bulletin.”

The visit ended with a group photo of the Campus Journalists and the members of NUJ Edo State Chapel.
