EDO STATE GOVERNOR PROMISES TO WORK CLOSELY WITH TRADITIONAL RULERS

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to work closely with the traditional rulers of Edo State to foster peace and ensure security within the state. Okpebholo made this promise on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of Edo North Traditional Rulers at the Executive Chamber of the Government House, Benin City.

Okpebholo spoke of the importance of traditional rulers in the history of the state. He revealed his agenda to work closely with the traditional rulers of the state. He further criticised the administration of the previous government and promised to consult and seek the advice of traditional rulers to foster peace in the state.

His Royal Highness Oba Idogu III, the Olokpe of Okpe, speaking on behalf of the delegation, criticised the Obaseki-led administration. Oba Idogu stated that the previous administration had caused significant harm to traditional institutions, especially in Akoko-Edo, where he believed appointments were made without due process. He requested the reconstruction of the Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers to strengthen collaboration with the Okpebholo-led government.

In a meeting with the Okpella leaders, youths, titleholders, and political figures, Okpebholo addressed the tensions in the community. He pledged to address the situations of unrest in the community, which he described as unacceptable.

Governor Okpebholo pledged to find a solution to the unrest and tensions in Okpella. He promised to foster peace in Edo State.
