Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, Makes Official 2024 Governorship Bid

Edo’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has formally thrown his hat into the ring for the 2024 Edo state gubernatorial race, marking a significant announcement. Reflecting on his seven-year tenure as deputy governor, Shaibu expressed unwavering commitment to propelling Edo State towards a future characterized by progress and development.

During the official declaration, Shaibu emphasized his privileged collaboration with Governor Godwin Obaseki, stating, “As your deputy governor, I have worked closely with our amiable governor to lay a robust foundation for progress in Edo State.” This declaration sets the stage for an engaging and transformative campaign as Shaibu aspires to lead the state into a new era.

Shaibu outlined a comprehensive vision encapsulated in five key pillars that seek to define the state’s future:

1. Infrastructural Development and Economic Diversification.
2. Education, Sports, Skills Development, and Job Creation.
3. Healthcare and Social Welfare Systems.
4. Agriculture, Rural Development, and Poverty Alleviation.
5. Security, Environmental Sustainability, and Transparent Governance.

In a resilient message, Shaibu declared, “I’ve been pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, badly hurt but not destroyed,” drawing strength from the indomitable spirit of the Edo people. He affirmed, “By the grace of God, nothing and no one can stop us. After all, I am an original Edo son… 100% home boy.”

In addition to Shaibu’s official declaration, it’s noteworthy that the Edo governorship election is slated for September 21, 2024. Furthermore, Shaibu has confirmed his candidacy under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
