On Monday, 11th of August, 2025, Comfort Emamson, a passenger on airplane who is tagged ‘KWAM 2’ by Netizens has been arrested and sent to Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos for assaulting an Ibom Air hostess while flying aboard from Uyo to Lagos. This incident had been of great concern to Nigerians and they express their displeasure on how the Nigerian aviation handled the situation.
A good number of Nigerians highlighted the similarities between Comfort’s case and Wasiu Ayinde, a Fuji musician also known as K1 De Ultimate who had an incident at the airport last week and was given the grace to apologize for his wrong doings. Nigerians tagged him as KWAM 1.
On August 5, it was reported at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja that KWAM 1 carried a flask on board and while having a heated argument with an air officer, he allegedly spilled the content of the flask on the officer. A video was uploaded after the incident where KWAM 1 apologized to the aviation authorities, the presidency and Nigerians. He claimed that the flask contained water not alcohol and it was as a result of his health condition.
Netizens shared their view on both incidents. Majority believed that KWAM 1 and KWAM 2 incidents are both aviation offences and the same magnitude of punishment should be melted out on both of them. One Netizen on Instagram commented “An apology settles it… whatsoever KWAM 1 did, KWAM 2 can do as well.”
Another comment stated, “K1 went home right? Despite spilling drink on an officer and restraining the movement of a plane. A person without political power has no voice. Just waka jeje.”
Another person wrote “This is a great double standard … the lady is presently a scapegoat while KWAM 1 apologized and walked away. My country, Nigeria. Citizens better know people.”
The authorities were accused of favouritism by some other netizens. They alleged that MC Oluomo, head of the Lagos Transport Union got involved in KWAM 1’s case.
