COMLAG Alumni Unite for ₦30 Million Fundraising Success and Business Support

The alumni of Command Secondary School has come together with a strategic plan to secure a ₦30 million microfinance loan for the benefit of their members. During the 35th-anniversary graduation and award ceremony, Mr. Kayode Ogunsola, the President of the Class of 1988, also known as the Class of Eagles (COMLAG), shared insights into this noteworthy endeavor. He explained that the fundraising initiative, which began several months ago, has already gathered approximately ₦20 million, and these funds are earmarked to support the business ventures of their fellow alumni. The management of the loan’s expenses will be overseen by a microfinance bank.

Ogunsola emphasized, “We are in the process of establishing a microfinance scheme to raise ₦30 million, with the intent of sponsoring various enterprises, be they small businesses or startup ventures, that our fellow alumni are pursuing. Our aim is to ensure that we all progress together, regardless of our financial resources.”

He further added, “While not everyone may possess significant financial means, our commitment is to leave no one behind. This is the essence of our 35th-anniversary celebration. We’ve been diligently fundraising for over six months and have already achieved a significant milestone, nearing the ₦20 million mark.”

In acknowledgment of the alumni’s efforts, Lt. Col. Christopher Bidda, the Commandant of Command Secondary School, Ipaja, expressed the school’s continued engagement with the Class of Eagles from 1988. He commended the outstanding men and women who emerged from the school, attributing their success to the excellent education they received.

Mr. Segun Adefila, the National President of the Association, underscored the importance of unity and networking among alumni. He stated, “Our goal is to foster unity and a supportive network. When we encounter fellow alumni, we aim to provide support and assistance. I have had the privilege of meeting alumni who have helped me while abroad, and these experiences emphasize the significance of staying connected as former students. This group, along with others, has made significant contributions to our growth as a close-knit alumni family.”
