Popular blogger and media personality, Mr Ogochukwu Isioma, otherwise known as ‘Campus Gist’ has been fingered in fraud allegations by the Management of the University of Benin.

Mr Isioma was reported to have received the sum of Sixty Thousand Naira (#60,000) meant for the Acceptance Fee payment, from a newly admitted student of the University of Benin.

ACJ UNIBEN learned in a chat with the P.R.O of the University of Benin, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, that Mr Isioma received the money in May 2022 and denied it when confronted, until the student brought forth evidence of the scam.

Dr Benedicta revealed in a statement made available to ACJ UNIBEN, that Mr Ogochukwu Isioma (Campus Gist) is no longer a contract staff of the University of Benin and the management warns the general public to desist from engaging in transactions relating to the University, with him.

“This is to alert members of the University of Benin community and the public that one Mr Ogochukwu Isioma (a k a Campus Gist), engaged on contract in September, 2022, as Media Officer in the Public Relations Unit of the Vice Chancellor’s Office is no longer a contract staff of the University,” the statement reads.

“The said Mr Isioma resigned precipitously when he was confronted with allegations of fraud including unlawful receipt of the sum of sixty thousand naira (#60,000) from a newly admitted student in the name of the University and Office of the Vice Chancellor.

“While he was Media Officer, Mr Isioma was never assigned nor authorised to transact any business on behalf of the University nor the Institution’s ranking officers. It is even more so now. Therefore, anyone who transacts any business relating to the University of Benin with him does so at his or her own risk.”

Dr. Benedicta also stated that there are currently too many racketeering allegations against Mr Isioma that cannot be enumerated because the case is still undergoing investigation.
