In response to the looming exams scheduled to commence on Monday, December 4, 2023, University of Benin students have organised a gathering at the Hall 2 car park, scheduled to commence at 7AM on Thursday. The movement aims to peacefully register their presence and draw attention to their request for exam postponement.
A WhatsApp group (Movement For Postponement of Exams) dedicated to the cause has been created, where participants are urged to convene in order to discuss the demand. The organisers stress that today’s activities are focused on capturing the attention of the Vice-Chancellor without causing disruption.
One message from the group states, “Today is an important day for our VC, and as such, it is expected that her attention would be gotten. If after getting her attention and no reasonable action is taken, we mount a larger protest next week’s Monday.”
The participants have been reminded that the protest is intended to be peaceful. They were also encouraged to bring cardboard papers to articulate their demands effectively as they seek to convey their concerns about exam schedules in a constructive manner.
The situation remains fluid, and further updates will be provided as events unfold.
