The University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan has been disconnected from the national grid by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) due to an outstanding debt of 495 million naira.

According to various news sources, relatives of critically ill patients have resorted to bringing rechargeable fans, handheld fans, and solar-powered fans in an attempt to provide relief from the oppressive heat for both themselves and their loved ones.
The unstable power supply has particularly affected the safety of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), who depend on life-saving equipment.
Relatives of patients have expressed their dissatisfaction and concern to both the hospital management and the federal government, urging them to act swiftly to resolve the issue. There is growing fear for the safety and well-being of their loved ones as a result of the ongoing power crisis.
