Following a recent report published by the ACJ UNIBEN concerning the demand for a more regular power supply, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has issued an official statement addressing the ongoing power supply reduction in its franchise states (Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo). According to BEDC, the reduction in supply hours is attributed to constraints beyond their control, specifically limitations in allocation from the national grid.
In the statement, BEDC expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and extended sincere apologies for disruptions to daily routines. “We are working diligently with all stakeholders to improve the situation and resume regular supply as soon as possible,” they assured.
Furthermore, BEDC acknowledged the delay in meeting the initially publicized timeline for the maintenance of the Sapele Transmission Substation and Ihovbor Transmission Substation. The delay is attributed to prevailing technical factors. However, BEDC emphasized that work on both substations is progressing well, and they anticipate completing the maintenance process, restoring full capacity soon.
The company concluded the statement by expressing appreciation to its valued customers for their patience and understanding during this period.
