The recently concluded University of Benin Students’ Union election, overseen by the chairman of the electoral commission of the Union, Professor Clement Atewe Ighodaro, and Secretary Joel Isaac Idahor, has announced the incoming leaders following a rigorous voting process conducted on Tuesday, 21st November 2023, across 13 Polling Units in the University, where students voted for their preferred candidates according to the polling units approved for their respective faculties.

In the just-concluded election, 20 candidates contested for 10 executive positions of the Students’ Union. However, alleged irregularities, particularly at Basement and Hall 1 (Queen Idia) polling units, resulted in the deduction of excess votes cast for presidential candidates due to surpassing the accredited voters in those areas. A total of 386 votes were deducted from Basement and 449 from Hall 1 (Queen Idia).

Despite these challenges, winners emerged from the election, including:

▪️ Alpha King-Lemuel as President-elect

▪️ Osilonya Chioma Peace as Vice President-elect

▪️ Eriamiatoe Miracle Eruh as Secretary General-elect

▪️ Kalu Onyedikachi Miracle as Assistant Secretary General-elect

▪️ Albright Chisom Ehimze as Attorney General-elect

▪️ Chukwu Jeremiah Ogbonnaya as Director of Finance-elect

▪️ Atori Samuel Ogheneochuko as Director of Sports-elect

▪️ Ogoh Precious Daniel as Director of Socials-elect

▪️ Omoruyi Osasenaga Destiny as Director of Welfare-elect

▪️ Osadolor Divine Osarumen as Director of Information-elect

The process, despite challenges, concluded with the announcement of these elected students poised to lead the University of Benin Students’ Union.
