Alleged UTME Result Manipulation: Oby Ezekwesili Calls for Forensic Investigation

By Gift Obiajuru Ukadikebuazua

Former Minister of Education in Nigeria, Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili (CFR), is calling for a forensic investigation into the alleged case of result manipulation by Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, a candidate in the just-concluded UTME examination of 2023.

The board (JAMB) has accused Miss Mmesoma of faking and manipulating her UTME result for fraudulent purposes, including gaining scholarships and other recognitions.

Miss Mmesoma has earlier debunked her involvement in the manipulation of her result as accused, stating that she is not capable of such actions.

In response to the accusations, Oby, via her official Twitter handle (@obyezeks), calls for a forensic probe. According to her tweet, she says, “This saga between Mmesoma Ejikeme and @JAMBHQ requires an Independent Tech investigation to unearth all facts. Listening to her in this video, it is reasonable to request a forensic-investigation to help reveal what really happened. I have reached out to the registrar of JAMB.”

She further states in another tweet, “An independent investigation would turn this curious episode into a Learning Opportunity for @JAMBHQ and everyone, especially students. I frankly see no downsides in asking a team of independent technology experts to investigate and publicly share their findings. Let’s do it.”

JAMB threatens to prosecute Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma and risk her being banned from participating in the board’s examination for 3 years. However, Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma has denied being involved in the manual result manipulation of her UTME result that she is being accused of.
