The Nigerian Air Force conducted multiple air strikes against suspected terrorists between 15 and 16 January in Borno State, resulting in the deaths of over 40 alleged insurgents. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
Military sources confirmed that the strikes targeted known insurgent hideouts after surveillance footage revealed increased terrorist activity in the area. The operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting terror networks and preventing further attacks in the North-East.
Security officials stated that the air strikes were carried out with precision to minimise civilian casualties while significantly degrading the operational capacity of the armed groups. Assessment teams are currently on the ground to determine the full extent of the damage caused by the strikes.
The latest operation underscores the military’s sustained commitment to restoring order in regions most affected by prolonged conflict.
