AIESEC in Benin visited Success Royal Academy, Ekosodin, Benin City. In the early noon hours of March 26, 2025, the organization carried out an outreach tagged, “Food Heroes” that aimed at inculcating the habit of food management amongst students in the lower primary (Primary 1-3).

AIESEC is an international organization that was founded in 1948. They provide young people with leadership development opportunities through international internships and volunteer experiences. The organisation started the Food Heroes outreach in 2016, in line with the United Nations SDGs 12 and 17.

A speaker who is a member of AIESEC in Benin, Naomi Osadiaye, began by evaluating the importance of a balanced diet. She made use of relatable terms like superheroes and superpowers. Gaining the rapt attention of the students, she convinced them that they could be food heroes by avoiding wastage of food, eating small portions of food, heating up remnants for later use, and so on. She assured them that doing so would improve agriculture and inspire farmers to grow more crops.

Furthermore, she stressed that keeping the environment clean by picking up litters can make them heroes because it would make the world a better place for habitation.

In an interview with the President of AIESEC Benin, Mr. Grandeur, he emphasized the importance of the outreach.

“In the world today, we have a huge problem with food as feeding the planet’s growing population sustainably is one of the greatest challenges of our time. The Food Heroes program aims to empower children to become advocates for healthy eating and sustainable food practices, raising awareness about the relationship between food, well-being, and the environment.” he explained.

He declared the outreach a success, emphasising how it would continue often, helping children cultivate healthy eating habits and maintain a healthy environment.
