AAU: Student Union Government Dissolved with Immediate Effect.

By Owobu Maureen

In a significant development, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma’s management has made the decision to dissolve the Student Union Government (SUG) due to alleged violations of university regulations. These violations primarily stem from SUG officials’ involvement in a protest that disrupted educational and university-related activities.

According to a statement by the acting Dean of Students, Prof. Dr. E. Ufuah, the protest, led by student officials, resulted in the disruption of the commendation service for the late Rev. Professor Moses Isunu. This disruption was caused by the alleged illegal locking of the university’s main gate, leading to disruptions in both academic and administrative functions within the institution.

The protest seems to have been triggered by the continuous increase in school fees, with the demonstration commencing on August 31, 2023.

As a response to these events, the university management has instructed the student union officials to return all union properties to the security division within 48 hours.

In light of these developments, the university management encourages students to remain focused on their academic pursuits, assuring them that all pressing issues will be addressed and resolved through dialogue and other appropriate mechanisms.
