Today marks the beginning of a new governorship administration in Edo State as Monday Okpebholo has now been officially inaugurated as Governor and Dennis Idahosa as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. This brings to an end the six-year rule of Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo State.
The ceremony was held today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital where the Chief Justice of the State, Daniel Okungbowa administered the oath to the new Governor who took said oath of office alongside the Deputy Governor at around 12:55pm. He thanked the people in his inaugural speech for their support in his victory in the concluded elections stating that it was the “triumph of democracy”. Furthermore, he resolved that he and the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, would not do anything untold to betray the people’s confidence in them as the welfare of the people was their topmost priority.
In a closing remark, he promised to provide better security for the state, join communities together, and support small businesses in order to boost the State’s economy. Notable guests who graced the occasion including but are not limited to the Vice President Kashim Shettima who represented President Bola Tinubu, The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo and other governors of state.
