A cohort of eight Nigerian teachers has been offered sponsorship for a unique opportunity to travel to the United States and impart knowledge of Yoruba language and culture at various esteemed universities and colleges for one academic session.
This exceptional chance is made possible through the prestigious 2023 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA), a non-degree initiative funded by ECA (Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs), spanning over nine months. It is specifically designed to empower early career English teachers or professionals in related fields.
The main objective of this program is to facilitate valuable teaching experiences for participants, allowing them to instruct their native language in American higher education institutions. To be eligible for consideration, candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of teaching experience.
The U.S. Missions in Nigeria proudly announced this significant development via their official Instagram page on the previous Saturday. According to the announcement, the fortunate beneficiaries are expected not only to enhance their teaching skills but also to share their unique cultural experiences with American society, thereby fostering stronger bonds between the two nations.
